Regardless, this will be a family tradition of ours for years to come....especially when we have a little tot of our own! :-))
When we got home, David and Lydia (Camden wasn't too impressed with the activity) carved the pumpkin into a jack-o-lantern. Lydia liked getting all of the "goo" out! The pumpkin carving kit I bought last year on clearance proved to be worth the $2.00 I invested when the blade broke on one of the knives after David cut into the pumpkin 2 times. Initially, the kids wanted the pumpkin to have two teeth....but, that didn't work out so well when D accidentally cut too far with the knife and one of the teeth was cut off. We decided he looked silly with one tooth....so, now we have a very happy toothless, smiling jack-o-lantern on our porch! :-)
David looked up how to roast pumpkin seeds on the internet, so after we picked out the seeds from the "goo"...we cooked them and now they are sitting on a plate in the kitchen and haven't been touched! Ha!
I am so glad that fall is here and the holiday season has begun. I look forward to Thanksgiving, and Christmas and all of the fun that those holidays bring!! Below are some pics from our pumpkin adventure! Enjoy!
